What does a therapy session look like?
Your First Session
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. You’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your background, current challenges, and what you’re hoping to gain from the experience.
There’s no pressure to share everything right away. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
What Happens During Ongoing Sessions?
Therapy is a collaborative process tailored to your individual needs and goals. Depending on what you’re working through, sessions may include:
Talking & Processing: Exploring your thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences.
Identifying Patterns: Understanding behaviors, beliefs, and emotional responses that may be keeping you stuck.
Learning Practical Tools: Developing coping skills, communication strategies, and healthier ways of navigating challenges.
Creating Meaningful Change: Applying what you learn in therapy to your everyday life.
How Long Is a Therapy Session?
Individual therapy sessions typically last 50–60 minutes, depending on the service. We offer sessions in person at our Coral Gables office or virtually throughout Florida.
